Lewtrenchard Manor
Lewdown, Okehampton EX20 4PN
Built by the Monk family on the site of an earlier house, this Jacobean manor was embellished by the Victorian hymn writer Sabine Baring Gould. The granite mullion windows with 19th century stained glass and high ceilings with decorative plasterwork are set off by rich oak panelling. The hotel bedrooms are tastefully decorated and the views are of the formal and informal gardens. Each of the historic bedrooms has its own unique character, whether it be burnished oak panelling, exquisite ornamental plasterwork, rich fabrics, extraordinary antique furniture or superb views over the garden and parkland.
