Pretty Bowness on Windermere (the only village in the lake district actually on a lakeshore) is also a 5 minute walk, and bustles with things to do, super shops and a really good selection of very nice restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes. All guest rooms are en-suite with views either over the garden towards the lake and fells, or over the treetops.
